Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut and two top contenders in the Doha World Cup 100m, Americans Christian Coleman and defending champion Justin Gatlin, easily qualified for the semi-finals on Friday.

Vicaut, European record holder (9 sec 86) and author of a very mixed season, finished 2nd in his series (10 sec 08) won by former world champion (2011) Yohan Blake (10 sec 07 ).

Justin Gatlin settled his series in 10 sec 06 in front of Canadian Andre De Grasse (10 sec 13) while Coleman won in 9 sec 98. This was the first race of Coleman, vice-world champion (2017), since the revelation in late August of his three breaches of his anti-doping localization obligations, finally not sanctioned for a date issue.

The semifinals and the final of the 100 m World Cup will be held on Saturday.
