“Today, the first memorial plaque in memory of the submariners who died on a deep-sea vehicle was installed and consecrated in St. Petersburg,” quoted TASS as saying by Igor Kurdin, chairman of the St. Petersburg Club of Navy Submariners and Navy Veterans, a regional public organization.

He noted that the board was made by a private company at no cost.

It is specified that the commemorative plaque is placed on the Wall of memory in Sestroretsk, on which the memory of the crews of other submarines who died since 1904 is immortalized.

On July 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with relatives of officers who died in a deep-sea apparatus.

A fire on a Russian deep-sea vehicle in the Barents Sea occurred on July 1.
