- The blood tests came from a dead organ donor and would be analyzed for virus infection, which is compulsory for organ donations, explains Gunilla Widegren, tissue coordinator at the Jämtland Härjedalen region. We take samples ourselves at the hospital in Östersund, but also send in-depth analysis to Örebro.

However, the long transport time meant that extra tests had to be done to make sure that the test answers were reliable.

In addition to analysis at Laboratory Medicine in Örebro, another doctor at a laboratory in Umeå had the samples examined before it was concluded that there was minimal risk that the test answers would be misleading.

But the consequences for Postnord became all the more serious.

- Postnord is no longer involved in any transport, says Gunilla Widegren, we have chosen another company instead.
