Faced with a crisis of legitimacy, the president of Venezuela held this Wednesday on its social networks to show its proximity with his Russian counterpart. The Socialist leader was received in the Kremlin by Vladimir Putin who renewed his support.

" Russia supports all legitimate bodies of power in Venezuela, " said the Russian president who also stressed the need for dialogue with the opposition. " Any refusal of the dialogue is irrational for us, harmful for the country and dangerous for the well-being of the population. "

Russian support is not just political. It is reflected in particular in the delivery of foodstuffs for humanitarian purposes. Military cooperation, according to the Kremlin, is expressed " above all through Russia's commitment to the maintenance of equipment acquired by Venezuela ".

Both parties discuss potential partnerships in the energy and medical fields. Note that this month, the European office of the Venezuelan state-owned oil group PDVSA has been symbolically transferred from Lisbon to Moscow.
