Uruguay made the first Rugby World Cup feat, beating Fiji (30-27) on Wednesday in Kamaishi.

The Fijians, considered underdogs in Pool D, give up almost every chance to advance to the quarter-finals after the loss to the Uruguayan Teros, who earn their 3rd World Cup success, the first since 2003.

"I'm really proud of my country, proud for my country, this victory comes from deep within us," said Uruguay's third-ranked Gaminara, who was on the verge of tears, just after the match.

Four days after long hanging on Australia before bowing (39-21), the Fijians fell back on their way, leaving many opportunities on their hands and feet.

Authors of four tries, the Fijians pocket a double bonus that gives them a very small chance to reach the quarterfinals, which will go through two successes in the last two games against Georgia and Wales.

The match was played in Kamaishi, a town of 34,000 on the northeastern coast of Japan devastated by the March 2011 tsunami.
