Almost absent from the podium for ten years, the French designer Christian Lacroix made his comeback on Wednesday alongside the Belgian Dries Van Noten, with whom he collaborated secretly on a collection inspired by the world of "Barry Lyndon".

Sharing a taste for colors and prints, the two men worked together for five months, uniting "Protestant austerity and Burgundian opulence" to give birth to this highly acclaimed collection.

It is on the music of Schubert heard in "Barry Lindon" Stanley Kubrick ("Trio No. 2") that the models paraded at the Opera Bastille, before the two creators, all dressed in black, come to greet the public alongside the bride.

Dries Van Noten has entrusted his desire for exuberance, opulence, volume and lightness. "" And I quickly realized that all roads led to the work and the world of Mr Christian Lacroix ".

The designer from Arles left haute couture in 2009 and now devotes himself mainly to theater and opera, for which he designs sumptuous costumes, where he often reveals his taste for bright colors.

His collaboration with Dries Van Noten was hailed by Vogue. "It's the dream of fashion," said the magazine.

For the Belgian, it was also a question of escaping in the face of a very dark political, economic and environmental news. "It made me want everything that would be radical, optimistic, flamboyant, inclusive and extravagant".

The DVN * XCLX Collection is a collection of brightly colored floral prints and jacquard fabrics. Echoing the parades of Christian Lacroix that ended with the launch of a flower, a red rose was placed on the seats of the public.
