Among other things, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's ambition is to prevent private individuals from cheating by taking out compensation and working at the same time. The checks will be done randomly by a new entity that both takes in information in writing and calls.

- The work is about checking against preschool / school and employers that an absence is correct, says Alexandra Wallin at the Social Insurance Office and continues:

- It is part of our systematic work to reduce our error payments.

Want to prevent wrong payments

According to Alexandra Wallin, the new rules have been introduced against the background of the Swedish Social Insurance Agency has been able to see that incorrect payments are made.

- We have looked through a thousand random payments, where it turned out that there were incorrect payments about 10 percent of the cases. This corresponds to two percent of the days paid, says Alexandra Wallin.

The errors are said to come from both the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and individual individuals. At present, the authority has not been able to see whether the systematic cheating of private individuals has increased or decreased.

- The errors are both conscious and unconscious and we want to make sure that we pay right. You should not be able to abuse the insurance, says Alexandra Wallin.

The Social Insurance Agency will evaluate the new rules sometime in the spring of 2020.
