A lengthy battle in Spanish politics seems to be coming to an end after the Spanish Supreme Court gave the go-ahead to excavate Fransisco Franco's grave to move him to a cemetery.

in Ever since his death in 1975, Spain's former dictator Fransisco Franco's embalmed corpse has been buried at the great mausoleum Valle de los caídos - Valley of the Fallen in Swedish. There are also remains of some 30,000 victims of the civil war in the 1930s, which ended with Franco's takeover of power.

The monument was partially built with the help of forced labor from political prisoners, and since the fall of the dictatorship has been highly controversial as it is considered by many to be a monument to the victory of fascism in the civil war.
