Prime Minister meets with King Jordan agrees on diplomatic efforts to relieve tension September 24, 11:39

Prime Minister Abe met with King Abdullah in Jordan in New York, where he visited, and exchanged opinions on the situation in the Middle East, including Iran, which is becoming increasingly tense due to attacks on oil-related facilities in Saudi Arabia. They agreed to work on mitigation.

Prime Minister Abe arrived in New York 24 hours before Japan time to conduct a general debate speech at the United Nations General Assembly, and began a summit meeting with King Abdullah in Jordan after 8am.

In this context, Prime Minister Abe will continue to support the reduction of Jordan's burden of accepting refugees from Syria, where civil wars continue. Through the “Corridor Plan” and other initiatives, he expressed his intention to cooperate in the realization of regional peace.

The two leaders also exchanged opinions on the situation in the Middle East, including Israel, where general elections were held earlier, and Iran, which is becoming increasingly tense as a result of attacks on oil-related facilities in Saudi Arabia. They agreed that it would be necessary to promote tension relief through diplomatic efforts in order to prevent deterioration.
