The City of Stockholm has 40 libraries and over the years it has emerged that there have been multiple libraries in the City of Stockholm with drug trafficking, brawls and disorder. In Tensta, the library was closed earlier this year, among other things after drugs were sold inside the library.

However, statistics compiled by the security department in Stockholm City to SVT Stockholm show that there have been few serious reported cases in recent years.

In 2019 there have so far been two threats and two incidents of violence, in 2018 there was one threat and two violent crimes at the city's library.

- We have come a long way in these issues described by DIK (documentation, information and culture). Threats and violence against staff are largely non-existent, says Emrah Ercin, project manager for security at Stockholm City's cultural management.

At the same time, disruptions in the number of orders have increased between 2017 and 2019.

"The city library is worst hit"

The trade union DIK (documentation, information and culture) writes in its report that it is mainly small towns and vulnerable areas that are worst affected, but according to the security department, this is not true in the City of Stockholm.

- At the City Library in the city we have the most incidents of disorder and theft. We have a security guard who serves throughout the day at that library. There have also been problems with disorder in the library at Kungsholmen, says Emrah Ercin.
