"The apocalypse is already here": the young French designer Marine Serre warned Tuesday on catastrophic global warming, during a fashion show where half of the clothes are in "upcycling", a high-end recycling.

Black smoke escaped above the petrol-colored podium set in the heart of Paris at the Auteuil racecourse for this show called "Marée Noire". Guests were sitting on pipes wet with rain in the bushes.

Models, including a pregnant woman and several older women, were dressed in black, mostly with red-lighted jewels. They represented "survivors of the Apocalypse", the theme that inspires the designer for the second consecutive parade.

The black theme is followed by sets in black and red with flowing skirts, moving like flames.

"The apocalypse is already there, it's no longer an answer, it's not a second apocalypse, I see the apocalypse as a black wave, and then, what do we do with this black wave? "The idea was to rebuild small groups and show what we do when we have nothing left," the designer told AFP behind the scenes after the parade.

She said that "50% of the whole + looks + of the collection- trousers, tops" were in "upcycling", an overcycling that consists of giving a new high-end life to a product.

Crochet placemats become sweaters, sheets and curtains "old world" are transformed into day dresses. Long white multi-layered dresses are made from nightgowns, lace and old knitted shawls.

The growing motif, signed by Marine Serre, is omnipresent, as well as gas masks, already unveiled at previous shows.
