The battle for world No.1 is raging: Karolina Pliskova, just 321 points behind Australian Ashleigh Barty, could take the lead this week in Wuhan, China, according to the WTA rankings released on Monday.

The 27-year-old Czech is in good form, with a win at the Zhengzhou tournament, unlike Barty, who has a slump after his excellent start to the season (titled at Roland-Garos and Birmingham).

'Ash' Barty holds the rank of world No.1 since the beginning of the month, after having occupied it in July and August. Pliskova has not occupied it since summer 2017.

The overall classification has not changed until eleventh place, as the one of the French: Caroline Garcia remains the highest ranked (30th), ahead Kristina Mladenovic (44th) and Alizé Cornet (57th).
