  • Road to the polls. Path to the polls

The President of the Government in charge, Pedro Sánchez, has announced in his speech to the UN that his Executive will develop measures against climate change in case of consolidation after 10-N: contribute 150 million euros to the Green Climate Fund - the largest mechanism in the fight against climate change - in the next four years it has been the main proposal launched in his speech in New York.

Sanchez, who upon his arrival in New York in the non-profit association Climate Week, had already kicked off the election campaign for the 10-N, ensuring that he will take to Spain the Green New Deal proposed by Alexandra Ocasio- Cortez, has followed the route marked in his first intervention with a strong message against climate change. "We are immersed in a new Green New Deal at the national level," insisted the President of the Government, giving as an example the work of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and assured that "Spain will be at the forefront" in the fight against global warming

"We are facing an emergency and we are running out of time," he said mid-morning at local New York time. A sentence that has more or less replicated in his two-minute address to the United Nations where he has also placed children and women as essential actors in that struggle. "There are always victims and losers and it is about them not," he added.

In addition, Pedro Sánchez previously held a meeting with the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, who highlighted Spain's "commitment" on issues such as climate change or migration, and participated in the High Level Meeting on Health Coverage where he located health as "a fundamental human right" and "a vital tool to fight poverty and reduce inequalities"
