The competition of Cristiano Ronaldo, who last season won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup with Juventus and then the Nations League with Portugal, and Virgil Van Dijk, winner of the Champions League with Liverpool and finalist in the Nations League with the Netherlands, was beaten.
Brazilian former Roma Alisson was named best goalkeeper of 2019. Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp won The Best Fifa Men's Coach award for best coach last season.
Megan Rapinoe is instead the winner of the 'Fifa the Best' award as the best player of the past season. The US had the better of compatriot Alex Morgan and English Lucy Bronze. Jill Ellis won the award for best coach of 2019 in women's football: the former Inter coach José Mourinho rewarded her. Ellis is the coach of the USA world champions in France, the first coach to win two world titles in a row.
