Credit card

- In the first place you should check if you bought the air ticket with a credit card because if you did so you have a protection according to law. Then you can turn to the card issuer through his bank, says Gustav Sandgren.

If you have paid your air ticket with a credit card you can do what is called a card complaint. Unfortunately, this does not apply to regular debit cards.

- Unfortunately, you are not entitled to do so if you have paid by credit card, but some banks offer it anyway, so it may be worth contacting your bank and hear what their terms look like.

Insurance

- The other thing to look into is whether you have insurance that simply covers an airline bankruptcy. This is possible through home insurance or travel insurance, says Gustav Sandgren.

It is also common that in connection with the ticket purchase you are offered to purchase supplementary insurance. Something you should check if you did.

Travel Guarantee

A third alternative for getting the money back is the travel guarantee. If you have purchased a package tour from a Swedish travel company, the company is obliged to re-book the trip or pay back the cost of it. If the travel company does not do so, you can apply for reimbursement from the company's travel guarantee.

- It only applies if the flight is part of a package trip, says Gustav Sandgren.

Unfortunately, the travel guarantee only applies to package tours, but there may be examples where the regular ticket is part of a package trip.

- For example, a package travel company may have booked Arvidsjaur - Stockholm with Nextjet and then Stockholm-Spain with another company. If it is a complete package then you should definitely turn to the package tour operator and demand compensation from them.

bankruptcy estate

If you have not paid with a credit card and you do not have insurance that applies, the last resort is to turn to the bankruptcy estate, Gustav Sandgren says.

However, the likelihood of receiving compensation for their ticket from there is low, as consumer feeding is at the bottom of the priority list.

- Unfortunately, there is rarely money left to replace consumers, says Gustav Sandgren.
