“If the president, in fact, refuses military assistance and at the same time tries to force the foreign leader to commit any illegal action, denigrate his opponent in the presidential campaign, then this may be the only way,” Schiff said.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that Trump, in a telephone conversation in July, "repeatedly pressured" Zelensky to "open an investigation into Joe Biden’s son."

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Vadim Pristayko, noted that he knew the content of the conversation and “there was no pressure”.

Trump, commenting on these reports, said that he "did not say anything wrong" during a conversation with Zelensky.
