Michael Correa, a former henchman of former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, was arrested in the United States. He is accused of having participated in a dozen murders.

Officially, Michael Correa was arrested for violating US immigration laws on Wednesday (September 18th). This former jungler has been quoted several times before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which has been held since January in The Gambia. He is accused of the murder of the journalist Deyda Hydara and a dozen other murders.

Reed Brody, Legal Counsel at Human Rights Watch, who works with the victims of the Yahya Jammeh regime, points out the abuses committed by Michael Correa during the regime of the former Gambian President:

" Michael Correa is notably accused of the murder of journalist Deyda Hydara in 2015, the murder of two American-Gambian Alhajie Ceesay and Ebou Jobe in June 2013. They were cut into pieces and put in plastic bags. He is accused of murdering Ghanaian migrants. They had been murdered after being taken to the forest. The Junglers of which Michael Correa was a part really participated in the low-works of the regime. And each time, it was under the direct orders of President Yahya Jammeh. "
