Nike sports equipment supplier announced it has broken the contract with Antonio Brown, the receiver of the New England Patriots' NFL franchise, which is the subject of a civil complaint for rape.

"Antonio Brown is no longer a Nike athlete", told AFP a spokesman for the famous brand at the comma, confirming information from the Boston Globe, without however specify the reason for this decision or when it has been taken.

Brown, who had signed on Sept. 7 with the defending NFL champion, the New England Patriots, was charged with rape three days later by Britney Taylor, his former fitness coach.

According to the federal complaint filed by this woman in the Miami District, Brown allegedly sexually assaulted her in June 2017, before raping her in May 2018 at home.

The NFL has since opened its own investigation, which does not yet prevent the star from playing for his new team. He also had his first touchdown for New England last weekend, during the big win against Miami (43-0).

Brown, who spoke to reporters on Thursday for the first time since being the subject of the complaint, avoided answering questions about the current case.
