Gothenburg's ten districts have at least one meat-free day of the week in bamba, but the vast majority of districts already have two. Now it will be a requirement from 2020.

- It is usually better with meat than with vegetarian, although you know that vegetarian is good for the climate, says Elin Noborn in 6C at Rosendalsskolan who sits and eats pasta carbonara in the dining room with two classmates.

The order for Gothenburg: two veg a week

At the primary school administration in Gothenburg, an order has been made for all the districts that read: one meat, one fish, two vegetarian and one climate-smart meal. A climate-smart meal is a climate-adapted meal in some way, says primary school administration to SVT News West, but that meals will not consist of heated leftovers.

The cost of the new order will be the same, says the primary school administration in Gothenburg.

Municipal Council: "Difference in meat and meat"

- It is nothing controversial at all to do this. The most important thing is that the children get nutritious food, says Naod Habtemichael (C) municipal council in climate and environment about the decision.

What then prevents you from removing more meat from the school lunch?

- The most important thing is to distinguish between meat and meat, that you buy good climate-adapted meat, and we do that today in the municipality of Gothenburg, says Naod Habtemichael.
