by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 20 September 2019The Yemenite rebels Houthi announced the immediate interruption "of all drone and missile attacks against Saudi Arabia" as part of a peace initiative to put the word 'end' to a conflict that lasts five years.

The announcement was made by the president of the Houthi political council, Mehdi Machat, who then said he "expected the same type of announcement from Riad".

The decision was given live on TV via the television of the Yemeni rebels Al-Massirah in a speech on the occasion of the rebel conquest of the capital Sanaa on 21 September 2014.

However, the rebels reserve the right to "respond to any hostility from Riyadh".

On Saturday in Saudi Arabia, the oil company Saudi Aramco suffered drone attacks on two of its huge oil refining plants, causing considerable damage to structures and oil production. The aggression has been claimed by the Houthi rebels of Yemen but both Washington and Riad consider Iran responsible for the offensive.
