September 20, 2019 Facebook has announced that it has "suspended tens of thousands of applications" due to the revision of the privacy rules. The social network takes stock of the suspensions of the apps on its platform following the review of privacy practices initiated following the Cambridge Analytica scandal with a blog post dated September 20th.

The review was started in 2018 - after the revelations that political advice has diverted personal data on millions of Facebook users - and has included lawyers, external investigators, data scientists, engineers, policy specialists and others, according to a statement of Facebook. The suspensions "are not necessarily indicative of the fact that these apps posed a threat to people," reads a statement by vice president of partnership Ime Archibong, which explains that some "did not respond to the request for information".
