He noted that "we are talking about an important, principled political decision to send ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the capitals of the two countries."

Earlier, Deputy Secretary of State David Hale said at a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko that the United States and Belarus are preparing to announce plans to return ambassadors.
