- The windows and the elements rattle off the sound. The children of the neighbor had ear muffs.

The southern theater has several scenes, but it is the concerts on the outdoor scene and the music on the Kägelbanan, a large glass porch, the fight applies.

Tenants and property owners around the theater give a mixed picture. In a property, the noise of drunk people at night is disturbed. In other houses, it is the noise level that troubles.

- We live in an absurd reality where we are forced to endure this several times a week, writes a resident to the municipality about the sound.

Measured 60 decibels

The Environmental and Health Protection Administration in Stockholm has measured 60 decibels inside an apartment during a concert at the South Theater. It is the highest they have measured in this context. The benchmark from the Public Health Institute is 25. It should not be more when you are at home with the door closed and the windows closed.

- 60 decibels would never be tolerated if it involved a workshop or other licensed activity, explains Monika Gerdhem, Head of Department at the Environmental Management.

But music is different. When the administration makes decisions, they therefore weigh the health benefits of limiting the music to the indirect cost of the city if cultural life is depleted. According to Monika Gerdhem, they have never banned a music scene. However, they may require fewer gigs, that the sound system be adjusted or that the room be muted. It is up to the person conducting the business.

"The media image is distorted"

It was, for example. The southern theater that decided to stop the music on the Kägelbanan, says the administration.

- The media image is completely distorted, says Monika Gerdhem.

A tenant with close to a decade in the neighborhood likes the music and has gone out and looked.

- If they were satisfied with 15 concerts as before, you stand out even if you can not talk inside during the time, but last summer when it was a DJ it was maybe 50-60 times and it became way too much.

During Thursday evening, the topic of Opinion live is debated, from the Southern Theater in Stockholm. Participants include music journalist Fredrik Strage, musician Joppe Pihlgren and cultural citizen council Jonas Naddebo (C). Ships in SVT1 at 10pm.
