MEP Yannick Jadot (EELV) said Thursday that if a debate on immigration is "legitimate", the way in which Emmanuel Macron seizes the subject by "leaving the migrant as scapegoat of all our problems" marks his "capitulation policy".
"That the debate on immigration is legitimate, it's obvious," said Jadot on France Inter, saying it would be useful "if it's to say how we house people today in the street , how do we value the incredible successes of immigration - for, overall, things are going very well - how is Europe-wide made to have a dignified welcome for refugees ".
"But here it is taken upside down, there is a political capitulation," he lamented: "What I refuse is that when we have not resolved territorial fractures, when we do not attack the social fracture, the ecological crisis, suddenly we go out the migrant as an explanation of everything, as a scapegoat for all our problems ".
Because, for the elected EELV, Emmanuel Macron is "the same president" who leaves nurses, policemen, teachers "on the front of the social insecurity", which suppressed the helped jobs which made it possible to create "of the social link" in the neighborhoods, which "rejected the suburban plan of Jean-Louis Borloo". "Macron makes Sarkozy, it's sad," he added.
As for the call of the head of state to LREM to avoid being "a bourgeois party" that ignores the opinion of popular classes seduced by the far right, Yannick Jadot saw "class contempt": "Basically he says that there are the bourgeois, irresponsible, complacent, naive, and the necessarily xenophobic popular classes."
