LONDON (Reuters) - A five-year-old Australian girl has retrieved a monkey doll she accidentally left at Buckingham Palace after receiving royal care from staff at the palace where Queen Elizabeth II lives.

Her family in Europe then lost her without being able to retrieve her before returning to Australia, although her mother was aware of her disappearance the day after her loss.

Staff at the Woodside kindergarten in Adelaide, Australia, where the baby took the monkey doll before traveling to Europe, looked for her and wrote a letter to the British queen urging her to look for the lost and beloved doll, and enclosed with their speech photographs of Harriet's travels around the world.

"We enclosed a lot of pictures of Harriet's adventures around the world," said kindergarten teacher Robin Haringer. "All the children signed the letter, put it in an envelope and mailed it to the royal palace. The surprise was that the palace replied the following week. Queen of Britain.
