Another deadly attack by the Taliban in Afghanistan where violence is daily in the run-up to the presidential election on 28 September. It took place on September 19 in the south of the country in Qalat in the province of Zabul. The Taliban say they targeted an intelligence service office, but it was a regional hospital that suffered the heaviest casualties.

It was nearly 6:00 am when the blast rang out near the Qalat Regional Hospital. The images of the totally damaged establishment were widely disseminated.
