Mass arrests in Egypt coinciding with the demand of Sisi to step down and in anticipation of the Friday demonstrations

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian social media activists said the authorities had launched a mass arrests, coinciding with a call by actor and contractor Mohamed Ali for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to step down on Thursday or face demonstrations against him on Friday.

The pioneers of communication sites circulated reports of arrests among the former detainees, as well as arbitrary arrests in major fields.

Meanwhile, human rights sources told Al Jazeera Net that the security services arrested some activists from inside the police stations, where they were spending hours imposed on them in accordance with judicial rulings on them what is known as precautionary measures.

The security sources revealed earlier to the island Net that Interior Minister Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, issued instructions to increase the state of emergency within the ministry, and to prevent officers' leave, and summoning those who get leave to return to work immediately.

The sources pointed to the holding of high-level meetings of the leaders of the Interior with the political leadership, to determine the way to deal with the possible demonstrations and how to nip protests called for by Mohamed Ali.

She added that a working cell has been working for a week after the publication of Mohammed Ali's first videos, and arrested a number of young people affiliated with the revolution and political forces.

He continued, "The Department of Systems and Information in the ministry to collect the names of public figures who have posted videos on social networking sites, in addition to the owners of major pages, and is being taken against them, whether arresting some or warning others."

This was accompanied by the arrest of the famous leftist activist Kamal Khalil from his home two days ago, where prosecutors ordered him 15 days to join a banned group.
