It all came first as a notification to the County Administrative Board. When inspectors went out to the yard a week ago together with the police, 120 dead pigs were found.

- I can confirm that this is a larger number. A complaint was raised and it has gone to prosecutors, says police Kenneth Persson, who was the initial investigator.

No gripes

How the pigs should have died is unclear, but there are no visible signs that they have been slaughtered.

- We have sent a selection of pigs on analysis to find out the cause of death, says Kenneth Persson.

A preliminary investigation into suspected animal cruelty has been initiated and no arrest has been made at this time.

- But we obviously have a suspect, says Kenneth Persson.

The County Administrative Board confirms for SVT News Halland that these are 120 dead pigs, but otherwise cannot comment when there is preliminary investigation confidentiality.

P4 Halland was the first to report on the news.
