“I did not expect another from the United States, it was obvious that they would begin to do something. On the other hand, I really hoped that the United States would still think more about the issue that Edward Snowden had repeatedly drawn the attention of the American authorities and special services regarding surveillance not only of the US population, but also of citizens of other countries. But we see that in this case, politics comes down to doing everything possible to prosecute Snowden for his truth. I don’t think that this will add credibility to the US Department of Justice and the country as a whole, ”he said.

The lawyer also stressed that it is necessary to wait for the official text of the statement of claim from the United States.

“After that, Edward Snowden will make a decision, consult with us - his lawyers and legal advisers. Nevertheless, such a position of the United States does not inspire confidence in the actions of their special services, ”said Kucherena.

Earlier, the United States filed a lawsuit against former CIA and National Security Agency agent Edward Snowden in connection with the publication of a book that, according to the Justice Ministry, violates non-disclosure agreements.

According to the agency, before the publication of the Permanent Record memoir, Snowden did not submit it to the special services for approval.
