“This restriction initiative should be given to regions or even municipalities. There, in their localities, they know better whether it is worth restricting the sale of alcohol in a particular city, district or quarter ... People behave differently everywhere, in some places there are simply no rooms except residential buildings, for banquets, weddings and other events, and alcohol can be of different strengths, ”said the expert.

Shapkin noted that "the subjects of Russia have the right to limit the sale of alcohol, up to the prohibition."

“For example, prohibition law was introduced in 140 municipalities of Yakutia and this was approved by the law of the Republic of Sakha. Therefore, this should be the prerogative of the regions and local authorities. It’s not worth deciding for the whole country, ”he added.

It was previously reported that Russia may introduce new restrictions on the sale of alcohol.
