In early August, the North American Aerospace Defense Command announced that the F-22 and Hornet CF-18 aircraft escorted two Russian air force bombers near Alaska.

On June 5, the United States reported that the Russian Su-35 had three times intercepted the American reconnaissance aircraft P-8A Poseidon over the Mediterranean Sea.
