Donald Trump on Monday launched a virulent charge against the media and Democrats after the New York Times rectified an article against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Judge Kavanaugh is "assaulted by the lies and the phony media, all because the media pipets work with their partners, the Democrats," tweeted the US president.

"They try to destroy him, to influence his opinions, but they play badly and they should be prosecuted!" He added.

Chosen by Donald Trump to sit in the US law temple, the Conservative magistrate was narrowly confirmed by the Senate almost a year ago after being accused of sexual abuse dating back to his youth.

A former high school acquaintance accused her at a congressional hearing of attempting to rape her when she was 15 years old.

A former classmate, for her part, had assured that he had flaunted her cock close to her face at a drunken party on Yale University campus.

The judge strongly denied, claiming to be a victim of a political campaign. The FBI had conducted further investigation but could not corroborate these testimonies.

On Sunday, in an article written by two of his reporters who are preparing to publish a book on the subject, the New York Times claimed to have learned of a third incident, also involving a sexual exhibition at Yale.

The Times gave the name of a witness who reported the scene to the federal police and senators a year ago, and said the FBI had not acted.

In the process, several candidates for the Democratic primary, including Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren, called for the dismissal of Judge Kavanaugh.

But Sunday night, the New York daily published a completed version of his article.

In a footnote, the editor said that the alleged victim of the incident did not want to talk to reporters and that his relatives assured her that she had no memory of it.

"The New York Times is backtracking," said Donald Trump. "It's amazing what these people can do," he added.

Its political advisor Kellyanne Conway has blasted journalism and "scandalous" democrats.

The arrival of Brett Kavanaugh tipped the Supreme Court into the conservative camp.

Although it was tumultuous, the confirmation of the magistrate is one of the greatest victories of Donald Trump, who continues to use it in his campaign for his reelection in 2020.
