Almost two weeks ago, Ewa hiked up a mountain in Västerbotten County inland to photograph mountain foxes. In the bright sun, she found a place with a good view of the calcareous mountain and made herself comfortable.

- I lay there for seven hours, all in all, and in the afternoon, ten little puppies finally showed up who cuddled and played, Ewa says.

Down from the mountain after a day of solid footing, she discovered that one of the memory cards had broken and that she had lost about 500 pictures. In addition, she was missing a pair of glasses.

- The glasses I had no hope of ever seeing again, but I got up again the next day to take new pictures.

"Laughed so I got tears in my eyes"

Soon after she lay down, it reappeared. Then Ewa saw that one of the puppies had something in her mouth. She took a few pictures and magnified them in the camera to see what it was.

- When I saw that it was my glasses, I laughed so I got tears in my eyes. And the foxes seemed to like them because when one got hold of them all the others rushed after.

When dusk began to creep up, the mountain foxes crawled back to their lair and Ewa could sneak up to see how things were going with the glasses. To their great surprise, they did not have a scare.

- They were struggling pretty hard but there was nothing wrong with them. They may be very dirty, but there was nothing that was broken and no scratches at all.

Why were they so fond of your glasses?

- They might smell a little good. Then there are not so many sticks to play on the mountain right away, Ewa laughs.
