For his part, Alexander Kalinkin, head of the Center for Sleep Medicine, Lomonosov Moscow State University, in an interview with the Moscow 24 website, confirmed that the back position is one of the best.

“But the problem is that a very large percentage of people have respiratory failure during sleep, the clinical manifestation of which is snoring. In the “on the back” position, respiratory disorders increase, sometimes very significantly, ”he said.

According to Kalinkin, it is undesirable for such patients to sleep on their backs.

According to the expert, the position on the side has a good effect, and the position on the stomach is the most negative from the point of view of the effect on the gastrointestinal tract.

Kalinkin added that a person almost never sleeps in the same position.

In 2018, American expert somnologists from the Mayo Clinic announced that sleeping on their stomachs is the worst option for a night's rest.
