16 September 2019Pd MEP Irene Tinagli (S&D group) was elected by acclamation, tonight in Strasbourg, chairman of the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, replacing Roberto Gualtieri, called to participate in the new Italian government as Minister of Economy.

Tinagli, 45, is a graduate of Bocconi University in Milan and holds a master's degree in science and a doctorate in Administration and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA), with a specialization in Economic Development and Innovation.

He taught Management at the Charles III University of Madrid and worked as a consultant for the UN and the European Commission. In 2010 she was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Elected to the Italian Parliament in 2013 with Mario Monti's "Scelta civica", in February 2015 she moved to the Pd group. Enter the European Parliament by participating in the May 2019 elections.
