A 23-year-old student, enrolled in the fifth year of pharmacy at the University of Rouen, died during a weekend of integration organized in Belgium by the University of Picardy Jules-Verne, announced Monday the Ministry of Higher Education.
The young man died "in the night from Friday to Saturday" during the weekend which was organized by an association of students from the University of Picardy, but several students from other institutions participated "individually ", the ministry said in a statement. "Frédérique Vidal wishes to express her deep sadness at this tragedy," added the ministry, which asked the presidents of the two universities to "set up a cell for help and psychological support from now on". The minister will receive Tuesday the federations of student associations.
A charter signed in October 2018
In October 2017, a student of 20 years in dental surgery at the University of Rennes had died during an integration weekend, because of too much alcohol consumption. A year later, in October 2018, Frédérique Vidal had a charter on the organization of festive events signed at universities and student associations. In this charter, the organizers had to inform their program, their budget, the "accidental risks related to the place" and the quantity of alcohol planned.
