Part of the German political elite, directly interested in the supply of Russian gas through OPAL, is actively advocating for the removal of restrictions, the expert explained.
“The limitation of deliveries under OPAL may lead to an increase in gas prices to Europe, because it is not yet a fact that Gazprom will immediately load the Ukrainian GTS (gas transmission system. - RT ). And even if he downloads it, it’s all the same news that there may be restrictions on supplies, even temporary ones, that will still provoke a rise in gas prices, ”the expert said.
Such statements, according to Mitrakhovich, “give hope” that with reliance on Germany, Russia will be able to resolve this energy conflict.
The expert did not rule out the possibility of revising the decision on the OPAL gas pipeline.
“Limiting supplies is only a round of the game, not the whole game. There will be other rounds of the game, there will be a contest of all these things in the EU court with the help of Germany. I do not exclude that a new decision may be made. We are dealing with a player who can change the rules during the game itself, I mean the EU, ”Mitrahovich added.
Schlund said earlier that the decision of the EU court on the OPAL gas pipeline is designed to partially displace Russia from the gas market and discredit the country as a supplier of “blue fuel”.
