The German Federal Institute for Infectious Diseases has warned that acanthamoeba keratitis may cause blindness.

The German Institute that this inflammation is caused by Acanthamba, one of the priorities that live in water such as lakes and swimming pools, which attack the cornea when the eye contact with contaminated water.

The symptoms of inflammation are redness and pain in the eye and increased secretions of tears and blurred vision and sensitivity to light.

You should consult your doctor as soon as you notice these symptoms for timely treatment and avoid vision loss.

In order to prevent infection, the eye should be washed with clean water.
