The Inspectorate for Healthcare and Care, IVO, has examined the Social Committee in Kristinehamn and found that, among other things, the Board has not investigated whether there are deficiencies in the business. The authority has also found that the board does not follow the law when it comes to investigating complaints that have been received.

- There is no summary or analysis of the complaints and comments we have looked at. This must be done in accordance with the regulations of the National Board of Health and Welfare in order to make improvements, says IVO inspector Ingemar Wegfors, who has worked with the investigation.

Quality is not controlled

The Social Committee is the political body under which the social service is located, which means that the quality of the social service has not been continuously checked according to routines. It is then difficult to see trends and patterns and discover where the shortcomings of the business are.

IVO has reviewed several complaints and complaint investigations handled by the Social Committee in Kristinehamn. The Board has not done a proper risk analysis, which is necessary for the business to prevent the same mistake from happening again.

Lack of control

The board also fails in its own control, which means that they do not analyze whether the business meets the requirements and objectives.

- You have focused more on responding to the complainant than investigating it, says Ingemar Wegfors.

The Social Committee is the deciding body for the social service and IVO has interviewed, among others, the chairman of the Social Committee Eric Hesselius (L).

- I know about the criticism but have no comments at present. We will raise this in the committee and report on the tours, says Eric Hesselius.

What are these errors known in the business since before?

- Yes this criticism was expected according to the administration.

According to the IVO investigation, one reason for the shortcomings may be that the documentation tool used does not support other ways of documenting. According to the parties that IVO has talked to within the Social Committee, the business has some time left before they reach the National Board of Health's requirements for documentation.
