Two-time Canadian Olympic bobsleigh champion Kaillie Humphries has filed a lawsuit against the national bobsleigh federation to allow her to continue her career in the United States, the state television channel CBC reported on Friday.

The 34-year-old athlete told the Canadian channel that the National Bobsleigh Federation no longer wants her but has prevented her from leaving since she filed a harassment complaint in August 2018.

An internal investigation into the complaint is ongoing at the federation, AFP confirmed a spokesman, Chris Dornan, without further comments, citing the "confidential" nature of the case.

The Olympic champion (2010, 2014) did not participate in the official competitions last winter, explaining in January that it was because of the "climate" within her team, where she felt "disturbed". She had not given details of the harassment she claims to have suffered.

She is scheduled to be married in the United States on Saturday with Travis Armbruster, a former member of the US bobsleigh team, and hopes to return to competition in that country, according to CBC.

The sportswoman has been invited to participate in a training camp for the American team scheduled next week in Lake Placid, New York, adds the public channel.
