The Fujairah Criminal Court has sentenced a young Gulf man convicted of psychotropic substances to two years in jail after finding drugs in his vehicle, which is pending a traffic case.

Details of the incident began in a traffic case against the young man, which required the seizure of his vehicle pending investigation. Subsequently, narcotics were found in his vehicle, which was presented to the Special Drug Testing Center. Other and charge him with drug use.

The defendant, who complied before the court, denied the charge, saying that he was sentenced in a traffic case in which his vehicle had to be seized, which was of course free of any narcotics because he did not use any of these substances.

The defendant pointed out that he was not present when the narcotics were found inside the vehicle and did not see them, so how can he be held accountable, stressing that he has no precedents in the use of narcotic substances.

The defendant's lawyer, Fatima Al Ali, filed arguments that the defendant was facing a traffic case in the specialized courts in the Dibba of Fujairah.He was tried and sentenced in the court of first instance, and then appealed to the court without charge of substance abuse.

After eight months in the traffic case, the defendant was surprised to be arrested again in a clone of the traffic case for possession of a psychotropic substance intended for abuse, as there was a needle behind the vehicle seat and a psychotropic substance.

She asked the court: “After eight months of the traffic case, the accused is charged with the use of psychotropic substances, and the vehicle was not in the possession of the accused at the time to claim a needle in addition to a psychotropic substance?” Inspecting the vehicle with the insistence of denying possession. The judiciary demanded the annulment of the appealed judgment and the acquittal of the judiciary again.

The judiciary postponed the verdict pending completion of the hearings, and rejected the request to sponsor the accused.
