On Thursday, SVT News experienced that the Environment Party is ready to release its opposition and accept a change in the law, which will abolish the staff discount for offenders who have turned 18 and committed serious crimes.

However, party leader Isabella Lövin rejects the information. In a written commentary to SVT, she writes that the party's position on the issue is firm.

"It's very messy"

Moderates' legal spokesman Johan Forssell welcomes a change in MP's position on the issue.

- If the information is correct, it is probably a step in the right direction, but it seems to apply only to the most serious crimes. But here the Riksdag has said it should apply to everyone, he says, adding:

- I look forward to hopefully reaching an agreement with the government on this. But first and foremost, they have to sort out what they really think - not just what the MP thinks, but the whole government.

Forssell believes it has been difficult to know exactly what the government thinks about this issue, which he believes is one of the most important concerning gang crime.

- It's very messy. First you say one thing and then something else. Obviously, one wonders what applies. There is already a majority in the Riksdag that has given S and MP the task of removing the penalty, and I expect them to do so, says Forssell.
