In order for a hair to be donated and become a wig, it must be at least 35 inches long and unstained. Minou Wilson has been saving for over a year and now when it's finally time, it feels a little irritating, she says, but thinks it's okay for it to be a good thing.

- There are some people who have diseases that cause you to lose hair and I want to help them, she says.

The hair is cut into tufts and sent via an organization in Gothenburg to New Zealand where it becomes wigs. To make a wig, hair from up to ten people may be needed. The wigs can then be used by children who for various reasons do not have hair - for example due to cancer treatment or because they have alopecia.
