“We have long established constructive, trusting, comradely relations with colleagues from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, which allows us to quickly and efficiently fulfill the tasks assigned to our departments,” Lavrov said in an interview with Trud newspaper.

According to him, representatives of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and China hold about 40-50 meetings a year, where issues of various subjects are discussed.

“And this is not counting the constant interaction between Russian and Chinese diplomats around the world, as well as the regular“ reconciliations ”between our delegations at various international venues. The fabric of bilateral interaction is so dense that third forces simply have nowhere to “drive in a wedge,” the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized.

He also recalled that in June, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the talks in Moscow noted the transition of Russian-Chinese relations to a new level.

“The parties identified further goals and directions for the development of bilateral partnership: strategic support and mutual assistance, deep integration and rapprochement, reliance on an innovative approach, universal benefit and mutual benefit,” Lavrov said.

Earlier, Lavrov, in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, did not agree with the view that China “plays the role of an older brother” for Russia.

He emphasized that Russia favors mutually beneficial relations between countries, "which will not be the subject of dictatorship on any side."
