A joint statement by five states was circulated by the French Foreign Ministry.

“France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom are extremely concerned about allegations of the possible annexation of areas on the West Bank, including the Jordan Valley and the northern part of the Dead Sea. If these promises are realized, they will constitute a serious violation of international law, ”follows from the communique.

European countries called on all parties to refrain from actions contrary to international law and the settlement of the conflict between Palestine and Israel, as well as to avoid measures that undermine the establishment of long-term peace in the region.

At the same time, France, Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy declared recognition of Israel’s right to ensure their own security, and also condemned the rocket attacks on the territory of the country from the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern about the plans of the Israeli leadership in the Jordan Valley and warned of the risk of escalation of tension in the region.

Netanyahu said that if he won the September 17 parliamentary election, he would extend sovereignty to parts of the West Bank in the Jordan Valley and the northern tip of the Dead Sea.
