Asked about the lawyer, who advised Jean-Luc Mélenchon to "take chamomile" before his trial, the LFI deputy deemed it "very upset" on Thursday night on Europe 1.

INTERVIEW

The tension rises, less than a week of the trial that awaits Jean-Luc Mélenchon and five of his relatives on 19 and 20 September, for acts of intimidation against the judicial authority, rebellion and provocation. A year after the stormy searches in France Insoumise, three police officers in this case will be defended by criminal Eric Dupond-Moretti. At a press conference on Thursday, the LFI leader portrayed the lawyer as a "pawn", "paid by the state to be the lawyer who will face (them)".

"I am not the pawn of anyone"

"It's surreal," said Eric Dupond-Moretti himself, Thursday afternoon. "I think he has to go see a doctor and take chamomile Jean-Luc, there ... (...) I'm not the pawn of anyone. When a police officer is insulted, he has the right to the help of the State, and the State pays the fees of the lawyer who was chosen. This was not specially developed to lose Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

"Master Dupont-Moretti is paid by the state to be the lawyer who will be in front of us, why, to organize a show-trial, so I will ask how much it costs Mr. Dupont-Moretti." #EtAinsiDeSuitehttps: //t.co/0gNT76z5B2

Asked about these remarks Thursday night on Europe 1, LFI MP Alexis Corbière, who is part of the defendants pursued alongside Jean-Luc Mélenchon, denounced "outrageous" remarks. "He has the reputation of being 'Acquittator', it's more like 'Insultator'," he said. "I see Dupond-Moretti playing the role of the strong personality, insulting Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Jean-Luc Mélenchon did not insult him."

"Who is he for, Dupond-Moretti?"

Asserting that Jean-Luc Mélenchon had only wanted to criticize "the choice of Dupond-Moretti, who normally is not a police lawyer", Alexis Corbière continues: "He says it's a sick man, for whom he takes himself Thomson -Moretti: It's in the Eastern countries, it's the Stalinists who made their opponents sick! Hey, Dupond-Moretti, it's up to you to take a little chamomile! (...) The field he is defending the King of Morocco, so he is not going to lecture me (...) It is expensive and in general he loses. "
