“I would also like to thank Austria for the powerful sanctions policy against Russia,” Zelensky quotes his press service.

As noted, during the conversation Zelensky thanked Austria for its continued support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for its help "in overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression."

The head of state also accepted credentials from the ambassadors of Estonia, France, the Netherlands, and Great Britain.

In July, Zelensky held a meeting in Toronto with members of the Canadian Parliament, during which he noted the implementation of "powerful Canadian sanctions against Russia."

In mid-May, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, following talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, said that anti-Russian sanctions “hurt everyone.”

As pointed out by the deputy of the National Council of Austria, Angelika Wintzig, the economic sanctions of the West against Russia did not bring the desired result.
