• Courts: Ruiz-Mateos manage to postpone their trial for fraud

José María Ruiz-Mateos , son of the deceased businessman of the same name, said Wednesday during his statement before the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands that after the bankruptcy of Rumasa they lost everything: "We have nothing, our homes are mortgaged, executed and foreclosed ; we have absolutely no assets of any kind, despite the slander, we are ruined . "

The third session of the trial for an alleged scam aggravated by the purchase of the Eurocalas hotel in Mallorca has begun with his statement and has continued with that of the Ruiz-Mateos male brothers who had not yet declared (Alfonso and Zoilo). The three have held a position similar to those of their other brothers in the previous session and have defended how "scrupulous" his father was at work and have ensured that they have "neither a euro nor heritage."

After them, he has declared as witness, Francisco Miralles, the complainant businessman of the scam. He explained that before the purchase of his hotel - the Eurocalas - he hid details of the operation such as that the hotel that the Ruiz-Mateos had presented as collateral - the Cervantes - had already been mortgaged.

In this sense, Miralles has ensured that at all times they carried an impression of " butt abundance" and has set as an example that when he had meetings with them at his home in Somosaguas, "there were maids, goalkeepers and chauffeurs."

He has also said that he closed the sale with the father but then negotiated with the children.
