"The child should have found the grenade, which was of the smaller kind, on the Rinkaby firing range during the summer," Thomas Söderberg, security officer at the South Region police, told SVT News.

A large fence was set up and the National Bomb Guard was called to the site.

- They detonated the grenade at a discount in the school yard, a so-called controlled detonation where you built up protection with sandbags.

According to the police, the grenade is said to come from the military that conducted exercises at the firing range.

- Probably the grenade has been there for a while before the child found it. The military must have missed it, says Thomas Söderberg, security officer at the South Region police.

There is no suspicion of crime.
