Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is interrupting his speech at an election rally in the southern Israeli city of Ashdod after sirens sounded after rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip.

The footage shows guards rushing towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and removing him from a platform where he was standing during an election rally in southern Israel on Tuesday, after sirens sounded to warn of a possible rocket attack from Gaza.

So far, there have been no reports of any rocket exploding in the city of Ashdod, the seat of the election rally, and Channel 13 television reported that Netanyahu had been moved to a safe place.

Several rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Ashkelon and Ashdod in southern Israel, according to the official Israeli Kan channel.

The channel added that there were no casualties from the rocket fire, while the municipality of Ashkelon ordered the opening of shelters in anticipation of any security escalation.

The correspondent of the Hebrew Channel 13 that the launch of rockets tonight was not a coincidence, the resistance in Gaza waited for the start of the live broadcast of Netanyahu and then launched rockets.

The newspaper "Israel Today", wrote: "The Prime Minister of Israel is taken off the platform because of the rocket fire towards him, it is God for national insult."

No official statement was issued by the Israeli army regarding the rocket fire at the moment, while the Palestinian side also did not issue any adoption of the rocket fire.
